The Davis High varsity women's golf team played Granite Bay at Wildhorse Golf Course in North Davis on Oct. 6. The team lost, 224-185, but the round marked their best performance of the season.
This was the team's best round of the season so far, even with the course playing tough. “They didn’t water the greens due to the rain earlier in the week, but with today’s sun and wind, they were really hard, but we were able to overcome that and make the adjustments,” coach Mike Trask said.
Senior Mehr Jaijee and Junior Lily Lingbloom both shot 39 to lead the team in the nine-hole match. "To have a couple players shoot below 40 was great," Trask said.
“I drove the ball well and was able to one and two-putt most of the holes, which helped me today,” Lingbloom said.
As the team looks ahead, Lingbloom continues to lead and hopes to qualify for the playoffs as an individual. Trask said, “Lily has been our leader all season, and she's been really consistent at the top for the team.”
With only a few matches left in the season, the team aims to end the season strongly, following their lowest round of the season.
“We play our league matches on tougher courses, so we just need to stay positive and use this good score to stay confident,” Trask said.
