DHS (2-5) scored its lone touchdown of the matchup in the first quarter. AHS (3-2) added at least one score to their tally in each quarter of the game.
The offensive playing field looked relatively even at the end of the first quarter, with the Dons holding onto a slim 7-6 lead.
Arroyo struck first, with Ricky Wyatt scoring on a 38-yard pass at the 9:05 mark. A good extra point kick by Cody Hoghtelling gave the Dons a 7-0 advantage.
The Blue Devils answered right back on the following offensive drive. On a third-and-8 at DHS’ own 22-yard line, quarterback David Dirksen connected with Brody Beckwith for a 78-yard touchdown into the endzone. An extra point kick for DHS was missed.
AHS added two more touchdowns to its score in the second frame, bringing the score to 21-6.
At the 8:05 mark, Joseph Estes brought the ball into the endzone, with Hoghtelling sending the ball through the uprights.
After intercepting the ball from the Blue Devils at the 3:12 mark, the Dons took advantage. Robert Mcgehee caught a 19-yard touchdown pass from AHS quarterback Jonah Shelton. Hoghtelling made another good extra point kick.
The third quarter is when Arroyo piled on the offense, doubling its point total to 42-6, scoring three touchdowns.
A 19-yard touchdown from Marcell Usher was recorded at 9:02. On the Blue Devils’ next drive, AHS’ Jordan Nguyen completed a pick-6. With 3:07 left on the clock, the Dons added their final touchdown of the quarter.
With a running clock in the fourth quarter, AHS added one more touchdown to its score. At the 10:36 mark, Mcgehee found the endzone for a 4-yard touchdown. The extra point attempt was no good.
