DAVIS, Calif. — As the school year begins and new seasons get underway, some spring teams are already looking to the future. Chris Lossin, after serving two years as an assistant coach for Davis High badminton, has been named the new head coach for the upcoming 2025 season.

"We've had a great run," Lossin said, who is taking over the co-ed team from Mark Murnane, who served as head coach for the past three years. "Mark did an excellent job and he really brought the team to new heights. I'm excited to keep that momentum going."

There's a lot of life skills that come with training and practice, and that's what I like about our team at DHS specifically."

Lossin has spent the summer developing curriculum, making a website for the club, and recruiting potential assistant coaches. However, when thinking about what he looks forward to most in his first season as head coach, it's simply "seeing the kids again, hands down."

"I love working with the students. There's so much wonderful comradery. They not only enjoy playing badminton, but they enjoy being with each other," Lossin said. "Living up to our success is a high bar, but I'm pretty... Click here to read full article
