Thursday evening, the Davis High Varsity Girls Water Polo team hosted Pitman High School in the second round of the D1 Sac-Juaquin Section Playoffs. The top-ranked Blue Devils quickly overwhelmed Pitman, racking up ten first-quarter goals en route to a decisive 22-6 victory.
Juniors Jessie Walker and Addie Sinclair led the Blue Devils with four goals each. Sophomore Katie Tapio and freshman Harper Seto added three apiece. Walker tallied five assists, while Hilde McConnell chipped in four.
Hazel Beatty was strong in the goal all night. The loudest cheer came at the end of the first half, when Beatty, with five seconds left, took the ball to mid-pool, rose up and fired a shot that rattled the back of the score. It was the exclamation point on another Blue Devil dominant half.
Davis will host Whitney High at the Davis High Aquatics Center on November 12th at 5:30pm in the semi-finals of the Section tournament.
